Entry Requirements at the University of Tasmania
For Undergraduate Entry
- Applicants must complete qualifications that are equivalent to Australian Year 12
- Academic requirements differs as per country, applicants must check country specified qualifications on course page
For Postgraduate Entry
- Applicants must complete a bachelor’s degree with qualifications equivalent to Australian bachelor’s degree
- Few courses may demand higher qualifications, subject specialty or enhanced grades
For Research Degrees
- For Master’s by Research, a bachelor’s degree equivalent to Australian qualifications with lower second class honors and IELTS score of 6.5 overall and no band less than 6.0
- For PhD Programs, a bachelor’s degree equivalent to Australian qualifications with upper second class honors and IELTS score of 6.5 overall and no band less than 6.0
For English Language Requirements
- Applicants in order to seek direct entry into programs must demonstrate the following English language tests scores
- IELTS – overall 6.0 with no band less than 5.5 ( few courses demand enhanced scores)
- TOEFL iBT – minimum overall score of 72, with minimum 10 in Reading and Listening, 17 in Speaking and Writing
- PTE Academic – overall 50 minimum, and no section less than 42
- Students may get exemption from these English language tests, if they have completed at least 12 months of study at recognized institution, where English was primary language of instruction
- Students who fails to satisfy the above mentioned English proficiency criteria may opt for ELICOS ( English Language Intensive Course for Overseas Students) program
Course Specific Requirements
- Students aspiring for creative and performance programs must attend interview or auditions
- For courses in design, arts and architecture should submit portfolio
- Subject specialized in necessary for disciplines like medicine, engineering and business
