Its origins date to 1908, when it was founded as a Municipal College, and specialized in chemistry and engineering, but the University of Portsmouth received its university status in 1992. Entry Requirement for University of Portsmouth

Indian Qualifications:

  1. High school completed from a recognized board securing a minimum average of 75 percent or above if the school is State Board or 70 percent for Central Board.
  2. Certain programs require students to have a strong interest in related subjects and grades.

International Qualifications:

  1. Subject specific requirements may exist with some programs.
  2. International Baccalaureate (IB): The number of required points varies from 24 – 31, depending on the degree program.

Foundation Pathway: Students who do not have exact matching levels of the direct entry requirements, can do a foundation program at the International College Portsmouth (ICP) and then progress to an undergraduate degree.

Postgraduate three-year requirements

Master’s Programs:

  1. Typically, you need a Bachelor’s degree at 2nd Class Honors (or equivalent).
  2. Rejected the applications with a lower degree class, but acceptable applications will be assessed for work experience.
  3. Students requiring further preparation may attend a pre master’s program at International College Portsmouth (ICP).

PhD Programs: Applicants must present a research proposal relevant to the subject field for which they are applying with a Master’s towards their higher qualification.

English Language Requirements

  1. IELTS: Overall, most courses require an overall score of 6.0–7.0, no component below 5.5.
  2. Alternative Tests: The test is thereby accepted TOEFL, Duolingo, Pearson Test of English (PTE) and much more. The course specific requirements must be met for each test.
  3. India Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC): The language requirement will be satisfied by an English score of 75 % and above (all boards except Punjab and Haryana Boards).

Additional Requirements

Interviews and Portfolios: In some cases, especially those related to academic programs in creative fields or healthcare, an interview, audition or portfolio submission may be required as part of the application process.

Health and Background Checks: Students are required to complete a health check and a criminal records check for health based program before enrolling in their course.

Mandatory Credibility Interview: If you have an Indian passport, have met the English language requirement and paid the £1000 deposit the UKVI will interview you via the CAS Shield.

Visa Requirements: In order to apply for a Student Route Visa, applicants have to have a TB Clearance Certificate from a UKVI approved clinic.
