Campus Facilities at University of Sunderland

The University of Sunderland provides state of the art facilities to develop their learning, encourage student collaboration and provide hands-on experiences to allow students to be prepared for their future careers. To be sited in the Murray Library, part of an £8m health excellence project, its facilities will be located at City Campus.

Healthcare Facilities

  1. Places for hands-on training should be hospital-like settings such as Mental Health Ward and Helen McArdle House.
  2. Our facilities include OSCE suites, mock hospital ward and treatment rooms where students conduct patient care simulation
  3. In the Objectives, as tasks, Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy are provided for these patients.
  4. A multi-sensory room for hands-on therapeutic training and contains a mock house for simulation of the real-life environment.
  5. The Occupational Therapy Garden specializes in bringing together gardening activities with mental health and wellbeing activities.

Technologically Advanced Labs: The John Dawson Sciences Complex and Darwin Building house cutting-edge laboratories, anatomy labs and clinical rehabilitation spaces, complete with high fidelity manikins, training tools.

Media and Technology Studios

  1. Amount:  £2,400 in credit and £600 in cash.

We Care Bursary

  1. Amount: applicants will receive £2,500 per year, for up to three years.
  2. Eligibility: This is particularly true for experienced students and students estranged from parents/careers etc.

International Scholarships

  1. Fee Discounts: Will automatically apply to eligible international students.
  2. Eligibility: Available to international undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Medicine and Allied Health Scholarships.

  1. Amount: It will be £2,500 a year for up to three years.

Internship and Placement at University of Sunderland

Physiotherapy Placements

  1. Students complete 1,000 hours of clinical placement across their studies:
  2. Year 1: One 4-week placement block.
  3. Year 2: One 6-week placement block.
  4. Year 3: These include three placement blocks (5th, 6th and 8th weeks) of which one is an elective placement (which is self‐organized but with international possibilities).

  2. Roles are part funded, paying the graduate a minimum of £18,000 and £500 a month to the employer in subsidy.

Global placement opportunities: Paramedic sciences and physiotherapy are elective to students and students can vie for international placements developed with the ability to be able to adapt with competencies to facilitate success in internationally competitive spaces.
