Entry Requirements at University of Bayreuth

General Requirements for Bachelor’s and Master’s Programs

Bachelor’s Degree Programs

  • Admission-Free Programs: You can just register direct with no entrance test and no restricted quotas.
  • Programs with Admission Restrictions: Sometimes in some programs you need a certain grade or else you’re limiting yourself to a subject because you need a certain grade in that subject or high school programs.
  • Aptitude Test Programs: On most occasions aptitude tests are taken by students in particular courses to the next level of their education that requires possession of a certain skill or knowledge.

Master’s Degree Programs

  • Bachelor’s degree, from a well-known university in the relevant field, with minimum final grade in the field (e.g., 2.5 or better on the German scale).
  • In case of incomplete degree, transcripts showing at least 135 ECTS credits and a forecast for final grade as 2.5 or better or higher may be submitted.
  • Language Requirements
  • English: Level C1 for most programs.
  • German: Non–German speakers can usually reach the level A1 in a year.

Program-Specific Requirements

Master in Scientific Computing

  • Academic Background: Mathematics, computer science, engineering or physics bachelor with a grade 1.9 or higher.
  • Specialized Knowledge: Numerical Mathematics (majors at least 16 credits (or 6 credits in first year, the others may be added in first year)).
  • Language Proficiency: English Level B2.
  • Master in Life Sciences: Food, Nutrition, and Health
  • Academic Background: What I’m looking for are candidates – Bachelor’s in Biology, Biochemistry, Food Sciences or Life Sciences related degree with a minimum grade of 2.5.
