Entry Requirements at University of Reading
The University of Reading is welcoming international students from over 165 different countries for studying various qualifications and pathways for their academic backgrounds.
The International Foundation Programmed (IFP)
Eligibility: Standard X Secondary School Certificate with a minimum average of 55%, or the equivalent, or Preparatory or Bridge program, where you gain certain admissions into Higher Secondary School Certificate Program (Standard XII) with scores lower than required for direct Undergraduate Entry.
- IELTS (Academic): You need to have scored at least 5 overall, and no less than 5.0 in any component.
Undergraduate Degree
Eligibility: Standard XII (or known as Higher Secondary) with average scores from 70% to 83% depending on the course grade profile.
- Other equivalence of other Programmed qualifications are Cambridge CPE (Grade C/176) and PTE (Academic) score at 69 overall.
Master’s and MPhil (Postgraduate) Degree
Eligibility: Three years (or more) bachelor’s degree from a recognized university or an institution.
- Depending on the institution, your GPA should be in the range from 6.0/10 to 8.5/10 or your grade average ought to be 50–85%
- Cambridge CPE (Grade C/176); or PTE (Academic) with a score of 69 overall.
Language Requirements
Requirements depend on the field of study:
Arts and Humanities:
- IELTS: 7. Minimum of 0 overall with no sub rating less than 6.0.
- TOEFL (iBT): 100.
- PTE (Academic): No component was below 64 in total, however.
Sciences, Business, and Law:
- IELTS: 6. No lower than 5.5 in any component, and overall, 5.
- TOEFL (iBT): 88.
- PTE (Academic): No component was less than 59, and 69 overall.
Pathways and Support
- Integrated International Foundation Year: A course with a four-year duration which includes a foundation year built into the course.
