Entry Requirements at University of Konstanz

Application Requirements in General

  1. All applicants for a program must fill out the official online application form.
  2. Applicants must submit certified academic transcripts from prior institutions.
  3. German taught programs require proof of German language proficiency.
  4. Holders of foreign diplomas (non-German systems) must have their diplomas verified.
  5. An entry test is compulsory for candidates in all bachelor’s programs.

International Students Bachelor’s (Undergraduate) Admission

  1. For applicants recognized as international, an equivalent high school diploma to the German Abitur is required.
  2. The applicant must complete course requirements that depend on the major intended.
  3. Must: Proof of German language proficiency (DSH Test).

Master’s Students Conditional Admission

  1. Students holding only 180 ECTS points will be admitted upon the condition to obtain 30 further ECTS.
  2. These credit requirements are met by offering a preparatory semester.
  3. Missing ECTS is compensated with courses after approval by the faculty advisor.
  4. These courses are to be completed by the students prior to graduating from the master’s program.
  5. The department chair must approve the transfer of credits from previous coursework.

Information for International Applicants

  1. Entry requirements for the EU, EEA and some partner country applicants may be simplified.
  2. Students with school-leaving certificates other than a German one may be exempt from paying tuition fees (refugees and students with a German school-leaving certificate).
