The Augsburg University of Applied Sciences (THA) was established in 1971 as the Augsburg as an academy of the arts, the college is a modern urban campus with over 7,000 students. The university has 7 faculties and provides more 40 undergraduate and postgraduate programs covering studies in fields including engineering, design, computer science, business and social sciences. THA has strong links to industry, is renowned for its applied teaching model and is focused on the student. Erasmus+ Mobility Grant: The scholarship is intended especially for THA students who want to study at exchange partner schools in Europe. This includes a monthly amount of 300€ (for a European volunteer) and 450€ (for a non-European volunteer), according to the host country. Learners need to learn full hours and must enter a learner-contract. Nominees are chosen for their scholastic integrity and for showing they enjoy school.
Deutschland stipendium: The scholarship is awarded to students of all nationalities who have an excellent performance. The government provides half; the private sponsors pay for the other half. a)”Applicants must be academically excellent with good social and leadership record”. UK and international students are eligible to apply.
Bay BIDS Scholarship: For graduates of our partner schools who have already graduated, the Bavarian State Ministry also provides scholarships in the form of the Bavarian BAYWA scholarship to students from abroad who wish to commence their studies in Bavaria. The prize is one off ranging from €500 to 1,000. Selection is at the discretion of the partner institutions outside the country and will assess academic relevance.
HAW International Scholarship: This scholarship is supported by DAAD to promote international scholarship payment of € 861 per month during the study period – additional payments for the period spent abroad covering travel and local transport expenses. At least you’ll need your A-level (or equivalent) grades and a set international academic project.
Internships and Placements at University of Augsburg
Mandatory Work Terms: On some of its other programs of study, a few of them its engineering and business studies, the THA includes a compulsory internship of six months that accounts for one half of a program’s design. Such internships are usually in the third or fourth year of students’ study and students can work full-time in organizations.

English Language Requirements: For all English-language programs you must be able to prove your English language proficiency as follows: TOEFL – minimum score of 80 iBT, 213 CBT (550 paper-based), IELTS – minimum score of 6.0, or equivalent. For the German-taught, the visa applicants must show B2 or C1 level of written and spoken German, Proven by either a Test DaF or DSH certificate.
Admission to Postgraduate Program: Candidates seeking admission to this course must have been an average graduate in the relevant discipline. Acceptance Rate: THA is a Stage II institution under the German system of higher education with approximately. 26% (as of 2025). This figure indicates that only a little over one quarter of all the people who apply are accepted and that the school is very selective. The school considers all parts of the application when considering any admission decision. The poor getting-in rate acts as further evidence that more students from Overseas like to study THA with its practical and industry lectures and its ready for work purpose built! Engineering, Computer Science and Design (i.e. Artificial Intelligence) are generally competitive and the programs will want to see, not just good grades, a story of why you should be selected!
In most of the cases decision is taken in most of the cases the applicants will be decided based on Academic Scores of (High School/UG) Choose the level of program (Bachelor, Master) documentaries. International students, too, must meet certain language requirements German in most bachelor’s programs, and English for some master’s programs. A language (if needed) along with grades and (if applicable) the corresponding grades in a motivation letter, work or internship, relevant etc., and some programs, portfolio learning, and under certain conditions, aptitude test etc. are also considered by the admissions board.
As a public institution, the THA selects the most qualified students for the academic and applied work of the curriculum through an admissions process. Some of that means more support, lower student-faculty ratios and more time in the flesh with your professors. Admission figures would vary slightly, depending on the program and how many students applied that year, but regardless of the program you’re in, international students need to hit the books to prepare their application and work on gathering the paperwork needed to support it.
