Scholarships Offered by University of West Scotland

WEST Scholarship Program

  1. Value: Up to a maximum of £5,000 over 4 years, it pays £1,250 per year.
  2. Eligibility: Eligible for undergraduate and postgraduate students in Scotland in any subject such as Business, Engineering, Health, Social Sciences and many more.

UWS Global Scholarships

  1. Value: £2,000 per year for the cost of undergraduate studies, or a one off £2,000 towards postgraduate taught programs.
  2. Eligibility: For self-funded international students (incl EU/EEA) with unconditional offer to study at one of UWS’s Scottish Campuses.

UWS Sport Scholarships

  1. Eligibility: Available to students who demonstrate excellence in sports and are competing at regional, national, or international levels.
  2. Value: Up to £1,500 per year, plus additional support such as access to facilities and coaching.

The Hugh Fraser International Scholarship

  1. Eligibility: Open to international students pursuing undergraduate or postgraduate courses in Business or Management.

Internships and Placement at University of West Scotland

Various internship programs are carried out at UWS for students to get experience in the industrial areas of Business, Engineering, Health and IT. Internships are arranged to be meaningful to employers with regard to developing employability potential and in reality, enhancing the potentiality of applying in a real-world work context through skills acquisition.

Work Placement Programs: Flexible work placements must be of varying length, and students have the option of making them in any of the two trimesters, between February to early summer.

Entry Requirements at University of West Scotland

The Undergraduate Entry Requirements

For Indian Applicants:

Certificate of Higher Education (Cert HE): Minimum: 50% in the All India Senior Secondary School Examination.

Year 1 Entry: 60% or above in All India Senior Secondary School Examination.

General Academic Requirements:

  1. Scottish applicants: Five subjects including at least three at Scottish Higher at grades C or above.
  2. English, Welsh, Northern Irish, and Republic of Ireland qualifications:
  3. In at least five passes including two GCE Advanced Level passes (Grade C or above) or Irish Leaving Certificate Higher Level passes (Grade H4 or C, or above) are required.
  4. For all applicants we accept international Baccalaureate and equivalent qualifications.

Advanced Entry:

  1. Applicants with Higher / Advanced Higher or equivalent may enter at Year 2 or 3.
  2. Advanced entry to Year 2 or 3 is based upon a Higher National Certificate (HNC) or Diploma (HND) in a relevant area of study.

Language Requirements:

  1. Applicants must have an IELTS score of 6.0 overall and no less than 5.5 in any one sub-test.
  2. We will accept alternative English language tests or qualifications, which meet UK Visa & Immigration (UKVI) standards.

Entry Requirements for Postgraduate:

  1. Academic Qualifications: Undergraduate degree equivalent to a British bachelor’s degree; Applicants should possess a degree equivalent to a British bachelor’s degree.
  2. Indian applicants: Overall score of 60% on bachelor’s degree.
