Royal Holloway University of London

Royal Holloway, University of London is built on over 170 years of tradition in championing education, equity and social change. The institution was established by merging two pioneering colleges: In 1849 Elizabeth Jesser Reid started the first higher education institution for women in the UK (Bedford College), in 1886 founded by Queen Victoria in Surrey (Royal Holloway College). By 1900, both colleges had become part of the University of London and in 1985 the two came together to form what we know today as Royal Holloway.
