Scholarships Offered by Inland Norway University of Applied Sciences

Berkeley – Inland University Norway Research Fellowship: Promoting international collaborations, INN offers research fellowship to overseas exchange students at the university. It offers financial assistance of $1000 per month up to 03 months to recipient students. For eligibility – only awarded to students from University of California, Berkeley conducting research in Norway. They must ensure the research project aligns with INN research preference. Acceptance of faculty mentor supervision from INN is also mandatory.

Norwegian State Educational Loan Fund (Lånekassen): This state sponsored educational loan fund is awarded to Norwegian and few selected international students. However, international students must satisfy the residency requirements. Students must also be enrolled at the university. It provides a combination of loans and funds to students for financing the studies. It generally covers tuition fee, living expenses and allowances for travel and study essentials.

NORDPLUS Scholarship: This scholarship fosters study exchanges and research collaborations between Nordic and Baltic countries. To be eligible – students must participate in exchange program with Nordic and Baltic countries, they must get approval from NORDPLUS network and it is applicable to both undergraduate and postgraduate students. The amount of scholarship differs as per the host country.

Entry Requirements for International Students at Inland Norway University of Applied Science

For Undergraduate Entry: Applicants must complete senior secondary school education at par with Norwegian upper secondary school qualification. Few programs may have grades requirements.

For Postgraduate Entry: Applicants need a bachelor’s degree from recognized university with relevant subject specialty. Few programs may ask for prior knowledge of relevant subjects and minimum GPA requirement.

Language Proficiency Requirements

For English Taught Programs

  1. Applicants need show evidence of English language proficiency through following tests – TOEFL iBT – minimum score of 80 or IELTS – an overall score of 6.0 or PTE Academic – score of 55 or Cambridge English – C1 Advanced, C2 proficiency with minimum C grade.
  2. Applicants who had previous studies at the following countries – UK, USA, Canada, Australia, Ireland, Norway, New Zealand or any Nordic country may get exemption from demonstrating the aforementioned tests scores.

For Norwegian Taught Programs: Applicants seeking an entry into Norwegian medium programs need to demonstrate the prescribed proficiency via – Norwegian upper secondary school exam in Norwegian language or Bergenstest – at least B2 in all four disciplines.

Documents Required: Applicants are advised to submit all the following documents for successful verification and subsequent entry into the university – certified copies of diploma and academic transcripts, passport copy, proof of language proficiency, letter of motivation (if applicable) letter of recommendation (for master’s programs) and country-specified documents (if any additional documents are needed).

Additional Considerations: The university assess and verify the documents submitted by the applicants meticulously, incomplete, vague and fraudulent documents are rejected instantly. Applicants are also informed that documents and transcripts must be translated either in English or Norwegian languages, if there are in some other language.

Application Deadlines: All EU/EEA applicants must submit application along with relevant documents by 15th of April 2025. For Non-EU/EEA applicants January 15th is the last date. Late applications are not entertained by the university.

  2. The factors that influence the entry at the university are – few programs demand minimum GPA requirement. English taught programs are highly competitive because of high number of overseas applicants. Competitive scores in English language proficiency.
