Technological University of the Shannon (TUS) is a public university in Ireland, it came into existence after the merger of two institutes, namely Athlone University of Technology (AIT) and Limerick Institute of Technology (LIT) in 2021. Currently it is the third technological university in Ireland. The university has an impressive six campuses spread across different counties and provinces of Ireland’s Midwest and Midland region, allowing continuing and sustainable educational learning in the region.

University offers a broad spectrum of undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD courses in Business, Engineering, Information Technology, Humanities, Business, Sciences and Health Care. Scholarships offered by the Technological University of Shannon

University’s International Student Scholarship – applicable to all students irrespective of nationality, the scholarship is worth €3000 awarded to students on the basis of academic achievements, personal statement of the student and other achievements. The university will assess the student’s performance to award the scholarship.

Technological University of Shannon President’s International Scholarship – an exclusive scholarship scheme for international students pursuing undergraduate or postgraduate programs at the university. Funding is provided to the university for selected students that covers the tuition fee of the students. This scholarship is under the purview of the university.

Athlone Alumni Scholarship – for international students who want to pursue any course in the university, a certain number of students are selected based upon the academic performance by the university and provided with scholarship assistance of €3000. Students who pays fee in one go are eligible to receive this scholarship.

Leaders@TUS Scholarship – financial assistance to students who face difficulties to pursue higher education at the university. Assistance is a great help for students to pursue further studies. Since the launch of this scholarship in 2014, more than €1 million have been donated to the students.

Work Placement – university is recognised for its excellence both nationally and internationally, employers around the world prefers and partners with the university to facilitate talented students for work placement. Mist of the students at the university are placed suitably in accordance to the program.

Placement Opportunities – students who participate and get the placement are eligible for remuneration from the provider. It varies according to course and placement, remuneration is decided by the placement provider, university recommends minimum wage as remuneration to the placed students.

Industry Collaborations – university is in collaboration with various domestic and international organizations, students get the opportunity to work with renowned organizations. Few courses have the facility of international placements.

Entry Requirements for the Technological University of Shannon

For Undergraduate Programs

  •  Applicants must pass the concerned examination that is equivalent to Irish leaving certificate.

For Postgraduate programs

  • Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree with equivalency of Irish undergraduate program.

For English Proficiency

 For Foundation courses – minimum score of 5.0 in IELTS with equivalent to TOEFL, PTE, DUOLINGO, CEFR and Pearson

  • For Undergraduate – minimum score of 6.0 in IELTS or equivalent to TOEFL, PTE, DUOLINGO, CEFR and Pearson, and for advance entry year of 2nd, 3rd, and 4th year – 6.0 minimum score in IELTS or equivalent to TOEFL, PTE, DUOLINGO, CEFR and Pearson
