Amount: €300 per month

Application Period: May 1st to May 31st each year

EPOS Scholarship for Sustainable Development Management (DAAD Funded)

Amount: Covers tuition charges, living costs, and travel costs as well as health insurance. Specific amounts vary and will be determined according to the DAAD guidelines.

Eligibility:

  • Applicant should be a citizen of a developing country (as listed by DAAD)
  • Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, economics, or industrial engineering with excellent grades

ERASMUS+ Scholarship

  • Amount: Typically between €300–€450 per month, varis subject to destination country and duration.
  • Eligibility:

Has enrolled in Rhine-Waal University degree program.

PROMOS Scholarship

  • Amount: On average, financial support is between €250 – €500 per month depending on destination and type of project.
  • Eligibility:

At Rhine-Waal University and enrolled in study abroad semester in a country outside of Europe, in an internship or thesis project.

Placements & Internships

Preparatory Internship (Vorpraktikum)

Duration: 8 weeks

Eligibility: Before completing their third semester, all bachelor students are obligated to do an internship corresponding with their degree program.

Details:

  • It is an internship that can be completed either as one continuous internship, or amongst multiple organizations.
  • The internships must relate to the curriculum of the student’s program, which is normally agriculture, bioengineering or sustainable development.
  • Approval needs to be submitted reports and certificates from the internship provider.
  • Advice for International Students: In addition, we encourage to complete this internship in the home country because of the language barriers.

Internship Semester

Duration: 20 weeks during the 6th semester (for all bachelor students).

Objective: Provides practical experience in the field of study through work under professional arrangements.

Option: Carried out in Germany or abroad in order to develop intercultural abilities or enlarge the perspectives on the world.

Internship Abroad Programs

Funding Opportunities:

ERASMUS+ Scholarship: Supports internships in Europe via financial support.

PROMOS Scholarship: Grants €250–€500 per month for internships anywhere outside of Europe.

Eligibility: To be considered, students must obtain a written confirmation from the host organization of their acceptance into a host organization and they must satisfy the conditions of the scholarship program.

Guidance for Internships: The Career Service has assisted students in exploring possible internship opportunities both domestically and abroad. In addition to providing you with content for your resume, they offer tips on job application skills and networking opportunities.

Job Portal: The Career Service Job Portal is a way to connect students to internships, part-time jobs, thesis projects and career fairs.

A speed-dating networking event connects students with industry professionals that give students the opportunity to secure internships or entry level jobs.

Academic Qualifications

  • University Entrance Qualification (HZB): Proof of sufficient schooling equivalent to a German university entrance qualification (e.g., Abitur). If you have an international qualification, uni-assist will have to verify equivalency.
  • Restricted Admission (N.C.): Other programs are limited seating and you’re in based on your GPA or some other factor.

Language Requirements

For programs taught in English:

  • B2-level English certificate approved (e.g. IELTS 5.5-6.5, TOEFL iBT 72–94).

For programs taught in German:

  • Recognized B2-level German certificate (e.g., TestDaF 4×4).

Preparatory Internship

  • Before the end of the third semester, candidates must complete an 8 weeks internship related to the curriculum.
  • However, international students are expected to finish this in their home country before the enrollment.

  • Bachelor’s Degree: Considered to be a first degree in a related field with a minimum grade point average (varies by program, e.g., 2.0–2.5 on the German grading scale).
  • For other programs additional requirements including specific courses, professional experience or TestAS, GRE, GATE etc. may be required.

Language Requirements

For programs taught in English:

  • A C1 or B2 level English certificate (depends on program).

For programs taught in German:

  • B2-level German certificate.

Program-Specific Requirements

  • An aptitude test is compulsory in some programs such as Design and Interaction M.A.
  • Some programs may require internships or work experience.

Visa Requirements

Apply for a student visa as soon as possible. The process is more or less same everywhere, so just consult your local German embassy for the process.

Enrolment Requirements

  • Bring the originals of each of the documents submitted during the application.
  • During enrolment proof of health insurance and payment of semester fee is needed.
