Internship and Placement Requirements at University of Canberra
Most courses at University of Canberra (UC) are associated with placements which enable students to work in real professional settings. Entry requirements at University of Canberra
Academic Requirements
For all applicants both domestic and international, the minimum academic qualifications must be met for the desired course.
Undergraduate Programs:
This would be applicants who produced complete, recognized high school qualification equivalent to the Australian Year 12 course.
Entry may also be by way of other pathways, e.g. entry through foundation studies or diploma courses.
Postgraduate Programs:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification.
You may be required to have the right academic results for particular courses or the necessary professional work experience.
English Language Requirements
Most courses accept the following tests and minimum scores in Standard English:
- IELTS Academic: Each band ≥ 6.0 overall score ≥ 6.5.
- TOEFL-iBT: ≥ 79 (each band ≥ 16) overall band score.
- PTE Academic: Each band at ≥ 50; overall score ≥ 58.
- CAE: For C1 Advanced, the minimum score in Overall (each band 176 or over).
Specific courses, such as PhD in Clinical Psychology, require higher scores:
- IELTS Academic: Overall ≥ 7.0.
- TOEFL-iBT: Overall ≥ 94.
- PTE Academic: Overall ≥ 65.
- CAE: C1 Advanced: Overall ≥ 185.
Category Two: For English Speaking Countries English is considered proficient if studies bachelor or post graduate qualification from recognized country.
Valid for two years from completion.
Pathway Programs:
Students who do not fulfill these requirements may qualify through English language pathway programs provided by the UC College.
Acceptance rate.
- The program’s acceptance rate is somewhere between 60% and 80%.
- The Acceptance rate for some highly competitive programs (e.g. Nursing, Education and Health Sciences) may be slightly lower.
- For master’s and research programs generally, the acceptance rate is 50 to 70 %.’
- Some of the popular programs with professional requirements such as the Clinical Psychology program will have stricter selection criteria.
