Scholarships Offered By The University of Sheffield

International Postgraduate Taught Merit Scholarship

  • Amount: £10,000 towards tuition fees.
  • Eligibility: Open to high achieving international students on taught master’s programs with excellent academic records.

academically gifted scholarship

  • Amount: The amount you can claim towards your tuition fees is up to £2,500.
  • Eligibility: This is available for students joining a taught master’s program in September 2025 from selected regions.

International Undergraduate Merit Scholarship 2025

  • Amount: Candidates will receive £10,000 per year towards tuition fees, renewable for each year of study (subject to a 60% average score).
  • Eligibility: Offered to those students who have demonstrated excellent academic potential and who are from countries outside the UK.

Scholarship Undergraduate International 2025

  • Amount: Up to £2,500 towards tuition fees can be received.
  • Eligibility: The Cambridge Bursary Scheme is open to new international students starting their undergraduate study in September 2025.

Entry Requirements At The University of Sheffield

The University of Sheffield has a number of ways in which diversities of education and culture can be accommodated.

Standard Academic Qualifications

  • A Levels: Three A Levels, normally with at least two at A2 and including specified subject(s).
  • International Baccalaureate (IB): Course specific scores diploma holders.
  • Indian Standard XII: To be admitted into an Engineering school, one should have attained a mini mum aggregate of 75%–80% on the key subjects. Minimum entry requirements are at least 85% overall (with specific subject requirements) in a combination of IG subjects for Medicine.
  • Other International Qualifications: Equivalency based. Further information can be found in country specific guidelines.

Foundation Year Pathway: For students not meeting direct entry requirements, the International Foundation Year at the Sheffield International College offers pathways in:

  • Social Sciences, Business and Humanities.
  • Science and Engineering.

English Language Proficiency:

  • Minimum overall of 6.0 with at least 5.5 in each contributing component of IELTS or equivalent.
  • At least 75% in Standard XII English (for Indian students).
  • To be considered for admission you need to have completed the equivalent of a UK Honors degree to the required standard.

Academic Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree of 3- or 4-years duration from a recognized university in an appropriate field.

  • You should have a bachelor’s and master’s in a relevant subject from a well-recognized institution.
  • In other instances, a master’s degree is not a requirement and prior research experience can partially make up for it.

Standard requirements:

  • First Class Honors: 70% equivalent.
  • Upper Second Class (2:1): 60% equivalent.
  • Lower Second Class (2: The conversion rates are (2): 55% for some courses and equivalent.
  • In addition, there are additional requirements for specific courses (such as the MBA) which requires, at least, three years of relevant work experience.

Pre-Master’s Pathway:

  • For students that do not meet direct entry requirements, The Sheffield  international College offers Pre-Master’s Programmed. Options include:
  • Social Sciences, Business and Humanities.
  • Science and Engineering.

English Language Proficiency:

  • A minimum of 6.5 English (IELTS) overall with 6.0 in all components or equivalent.
  • Requirements for applicants to start a Postgraduate Research (MPhil/PhD) degree
  • IELTS required at minimum score of 6.5 overall with 6.0 in each component or equivalent.
  • This program provides alternative pathways and additional requirements towards the completion of the program.

Foundation Year Courses: Foundation courses in Science, Engineering and other are available for students with non — standard qualifications or students with disrupted studies.

Lifelong Learning: For the mature learner (21+ years), with work and life experience. Evidence is required of readiness for academic study, commitment to the subject and assessments of literacy/numeracy.

Exchange Students: Requires a minimum UK 2: The grade in this research was equivalent 2 grade in previous studies.
