Acceptance Rate at Carleton University
Highly Selective Admissions: Carleton University has a less selective admissions process with an acceptance rate of 21%. With not that many slots and demand soaring, it is a battle for any would-be residents, be they native to Russia or from overseas, and especially for specialized, popular programs.
Undergraduate Admission Criteria: Carleton University: Admission averages are in the ‘A’ range (minimum 70% in most programs). At least up to 85%. Those students participating or in leadership positions in extracurricular activities, too, can outpace some of their competition for a nomination, especially those aiming to be nominated as a scholarship candidate.
Graduate Program Selectivity: At the master’s level, you are seeking at least a 3.0 grade point average about an overall B average from the work you did as an undergraduate. Consideration will also be given to other factors (letters of reference, research statement, work experience) in addition to grades.
Impact of Program Demand: The admitted rate could be significantly different from the program rate. For example, some extremely selective majors (e.g., Public Affairs, Architecture, Computer Science) have less room and resources in labs, smaller caps on admission, and subsequently a lower admission rate on average than the rest of the campus.
International Applicant Competition: And because students apply to Carleton from more than 150 countries each year, the competition for international admission is fierce. Even though 21% is the admit rate, international students must be academically competitive English tests like IELTS or TOEFL.
