Indigenous Education Placement Bursary

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island students are offered assistance through this bursary, to be eligible, students must be enrolled in bachelor of education or master of teaching programs, must complete 192 credit points for bachelor’s and 96 credit points for master’s programs respectively. They must also undertake university approved professional experience placement, $3,350 maximum is offered per bursary to recipient students

Tim Fairfax Family Foundation Rural & Remote Bursary

This bursary is available to local students, permanent residents of Australia, New Zealand citizens, Australian citizen and permanent Australian humanitarian visa holders pursuing undergraduate education programs or masters in teaching, who have an approved application and interview for rural and remote placements are eligible to claim this bursary. It offers $2,500 maximum depending upon location, duration and distance of placement

Vice-Chancellor’s Honors Scholarship

University offers scholarship assistance of $5000 per year to students who are commencing honors study at the university. Students must be enrolled as commonwealth supported student, should not be receiving an UniSC merit or indigenous honors scholarships are eligible

What is Work Integrated Learning (WIL)

  • The Expression of Interest must be submitted 8 weeks before semester commencement, 6 months for international placements
  • Finalizing placement with request form, 4 weeks before start of semester
  • Students must submit supportive documents related to police verification, immunization and other certificates

  • Students who have finalized for placement should seek assistance from Sonia Online, a platform dedicated to placement management
  • Required resources, pre-checks and safety measures are provided for preparedness

Assessment

Students must maintain a placement record, the supervisors at the workplace will assess the performance and send the feedback to coordinators

Most placements are unpaid, however students are covered under university insurance policy

Applicants must complete an education that is equivalent to Australian Year 12 qualification

Indian Applicants Requirements

  • At least 60% in best four subjects, with first division in CBSE or CISCE
  • Punjab and Haryana boards, students must have 70% with best in four subjects and first division result, remaining boards students, 65% with best in four subjects and first division results
  • University also offers pathway programs such as Tertiary Preparation Pathway, that satisfy the academic requirements for an entry into university programs

For Postgraduate Entry Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree from recognized university with fulfilling additional requirements for certain programs

English Language Requirements

  • IELTS Academic – 6.0 overall and 5.5 in all bands (undergraduate), 6.5 overall and 6.0 in all bands (postgraduate)
  • TOEFL iBT – 76 overall and 18 in writing (undergraduate), 85 overall and 21 in writing (postgraduate)
  • PTE Academic – 50 overall and 50 in all sections (undergraduate), 58 overall and 54 in all sections (postgraduate)
  • C1 Advanced/ C2 Proficiency – 169 overall and 162 in all skills (undergraduate), 177 overall and 169 in all skills (postgraduate)

Country Specific Proficiency

Applicants who had completed education in any English speaking countries such as USA, UK, Australia etc. may be exempted from English language requirements

Non-Standard Requirements

Few courses at the university such as Master’s of Dietetics and Master’s of Psychology (clinical) may demand non-standard requirements, applicants must check the requirements
